The last decade has brought a revolution in our life in terms of technology development. In a way, it has laid the foundation for many scientific inventions.

The machine revolution continued in the world around 1712, even after nearly 200 years of discovery of steam-powered engines.

The invention of electricity led to the Industrial Revolution which lasted more than a century. The Internet paved the way for the computer revolution in the 20th century.

However, the digital revolution in the last decade changed the way the whole world works.

In this decade, the Internet has progressed through the digital revolution and it has reached the hands of the common man. How the story of technological development was written in the last decade, we are telling here.

In the last decade, mobile phones have moved from feature phones to touch screens. The phone whose price was more than 25 thousand rupees 10 years ago has now been reduced to Rs 4000 and has come in the budget of many people.

Large RAM sizes, ultra-speed processors, large internet storage, megapixel cameras, wireless Bluetooth headphones, Bluetooth speakers and power banks have become common.

Wireless chargers, selfie cameras, selfie sticks, fingerprint scanners, facial recognition and iris camera locks for mobile phones have revolutionized the features of mobile phones. IPads and tablets have also emerged in this decade. .

Prior to 2010, Windows, Macintosh, Linux used to be the only operating system.

Although the Android system was launched in the year 2008, it was not very popular. Even Apple was constantly updating its iOS.

The 3G data network, which came at the beginning of the decade, is now going to reach 5G, which has given people a great experience of the Internet.

Data usage has increased very fast.

According to an Assocham report, people in India have used 7.1 trillion megabytes of data and by 2022 it is likely to be 110 trillion megabytes.

According to Ericsson, in the year 2018, users in India have used 9.8 gigabytes of data every month. The annual growth in this sector is more than 72.5 per cent and if 5G data comes in India then it can increase.

Data consumption has gone from just talk time and validity plans to unlimited outgoing free offers.

4G and Jio internet services have played an important role in increasing data consumption. This has increased virtual connectivity and even surgery is being done through robotics.

Technical expert Srikanth Rao believes, “Internet users who were 70 lakh in 2001 increased to 9 crores in 2010. In 2016 alone, the number of Internet users in India increased to 46 crores. At the same time, 63 crore people were using Intrate in 2019. Internet usage is increasing rapidly even in rural areas of the country.

There has been a lot of change in the lifestyle of people in the last decade. Fitness and smartwatch giving information related to health have made a place in people’s lives. SmartWatch was not in the trend until 2017.

But then companies like Samsung and Apple brought out such watches that could come in people’s budget. After this, the demand for smartwatch increased.

Due to their connectivity and ability to help keep them healthy, they started to like people. Shrikant Rao says that more smart gadgets and smart belts are going to come in the market in future.

With the increasing availability of the Internet, the use of such gadgets has also increased. Alexa and Google Assistant have replaced Personal Secretaries. Through voice commands, people can move household goods from any corner of the house.

Digital homes are already being used in countries like the USA. With the command of filming at the home theatre, the lights go dim and AC starts automatically.

Connection of electronic gadgets to the Internet is the most significant development in this decade. It is likely to increase in the coming days.

In this decade, without driverless cars (self-driving cars), have also taken to the streets. Companies like Tesla are in demand in the market for these cars.

By linking to the Internet, using Google Maps and Artificial Intelligence, these cars take people to their destination without any risk.

Many big companies are working on making self-driving cars.

Rao says that these cars may not be right for India. There are issues related to data security with self-drive cars here.

In this decade significant progress has been made regarding drones. It is easy to take visuals of the ground from the sky with a drone camera. Due to this, options like air taxi have become possible due to which people can get rid of getting stuck in a traffic jam.

The Uber company had announced that it would start air taxis in Los Angeles, Dallas and Melbourne. He issued a statement regarding the drone taxi.

According to this statement, test flights will be launched by the year 2020 and commercial services will start by 2023. Air taxi facility is available in Bangalore in India.

The Government of India has formulated the policy keeping in mind the potential dangers of using drones.

Online games that used to require high configuration computers have now been integrated into smartphones. Video games like Angry Birds, Pokémon Go, and Pub G are now connecting people to play games virtually.

These games are also available in virtual graphics.

Software developer Sai Ashok says that mobiles made specifically for real gaming experience and games are going to come to the market in future.

Online map has become a part of our life now. Services like Ola and Uber work through Google Maps.

Food is also ordered with its help. Services like Swiggy, Zomato, Food Panda, Uber Eats are running in many cities of India. These traffic and food services have made the life of people a little easier.

Mobile transactions which were once very limited have now become much easier with Google Pay, Paytm and Phone Pay and people are able to pay instantly.

Demonetisation has also played a role in increasing usage of these apps in India, but increasing use of smartphones is also an important reason for this.

In the year 2016, where there were 0.6 billion mobile transactions, in 2019 it increased to 17 billion.

Online shopping has grown very rapidly in the last decade. People in India have started buying groceries, expensive electronic goods and household goods to gold online.

Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Myntra have also made a big impact on retail outlets. Due to the ease of shopping and saving time from online shopping, people have become interested in it.

Within five years of Amazon Company, which came in the Indian market in 2014, there were millions of customers. According to an estimate by the Indian Brand Equity Foundation, the turnover of online marketing has increased from $ 39 billion in 2017 to $ 120 billion. It has increased by 51 per cent.

Companies like Google, Microsoft is working for Artificial Intelligence (AI) based operating systems. With the help of AI, the use of robotics in our life is increasing day by day. It is also being used in toys.

They are also being used in railway ticket booking, fitness gadgets. Experts say that it can also be used in the stock market and business management.

Social network usage has increased in India. Apps like WhatsApp and Viber have changed the way people talk.

According to a report of ‘We are Social’, the number of social media users worldwide is increasing at the rate of 13 per cent every year. In India, this rate is 31 per cent.

As of January 2018, the average time a person spends on social media in India was two hours 26 minutes. The Philippines tops the list with three hours and 57 minutes in terms of social media usage. The average time in Japan is 48 minutes.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, hello and share chat have also got mixed into our everyday lives. Tik-tock has brought a different experience for mobile users.

These apps designed to connect people are also starting to affect the political agenda of the countries.

TV use has also changed completely in the last decade. LCD, LED TVs have started functioning as a smart TV. Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hot Star have brought a huge change in the TV viewing pattern.

Cloud storage has become very common in the last decade. A drive, dropbox, Google photos are common in every smartphone. Our photos are automatically saved in Google Photos. Many industries are using cloud computing. This decade has laid the foundation for the use of cloud computing.

Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO) has found many successes in this decade. Mangalyaan was successful in the first attempt and Chandrayaan 2 was also launched. A large number of satellites were sent to space.

In the same decade, the 100th satellite test of ISRO and the 50th test of PSLV were completed. The next decade is the turn of Gaganyaan and Suryan.

Raghunandan, director of the Planetary Society of India said that along with the investigation of the reuse of the launch vehicle, the pilots have also been selected to select the astronauts for the space research project.

The use of robotics in the industry has also increased significantly. With the help of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence, robots have succeeded in replacing humans in many cases.

Robots have been used in security, defence and production. Robot Sophia created a sensation as soon as it came in the market. She could act like a personal assistant and give a gesture like humans. Robots being used in industrial use have also been brought for domestic use.

3D printing is an important discovery of this decade. BahnazFarahi of South California University has designed a 3D dress that can detect hazards and work according to the weather.

The use of blockchains and bitcoins has increased. Technology companies are in the process of using cryptocurrency and are trying to use special crypto currency.

Crypto currency works on the basis of blockchain technology. The demand for bitcoin has increased. Bitcoin is not allowed to operate in India.

Watching space travel on TV, the matter has now reached the actual space travel. Institutions like Virgin Atlantic, Space X are providing space travel facilities to the people.

Use of LED has increased significantly in the last 10 years. CCTV cameras have become an increased means of surveillance. Kindle and e-books have changed the way of reading.

Audio books and podcasts have also become an important means of getting information. The last decade has been important for various technological advances.

But, cybersecurity must be strengthened to sustain this development or else it may put us at risk.
