After this complaint, the students were said to be very strict about the rules of the Swaminarayan sect and it was said that any student who is going through periods should come out of his wish.

According to the rules of the Swaminarayan sect, women are prohibited from visiting temples and kitchens during menstruation. The students say that this incident has caused them mental shock and they are demanding legal action against those responsible for it.

Gujarat State Women’s Commission chairperson Lilaben Ankolia told the media that a complaint has been filed by the commission against the four people, including the principal of the college.

The National Commission for Women has constituted a committee to investigate the incident which will visit the college. The college administration has expressed surprise over the incident, saying that an inquiry will be done in this regard and any lapse will not be accepted.

However, the Vice-Chancellor of Kutch University has said that this is not the case of the hostel but of the college and in this case, the students who broke the rules have also apologized.

What do the girls say?

The media talked to some students at this college. One of these students told, “On February 11, in front of all the hostels and campuses, we were taken to the bathroom one by one and it was seen that we were having periods.”

He told, “They did not touch us, but they scared us so much that we took our clothes off and allowed them to investigate.” The students also alleged that Pravin Pindoria, a member of the executive council of the university, told them that they can take any legal action only if they leave the hostel.

The students alleged that college principal Reetaben, coordinator Anitaben and school principal Dakshaben blackmailed them, making them emotional.

One student said, “They wrote to us that we will not pursue this issue and we have no problem with this sector college.” The father of a student who is a follower of Swaminarayan sect said, I believe in the rules too, but they have no right to torture my daughter in this way. “

However, some students also said that there was no coercion with them. One student said, “There is a rule in the institute that during the periods, the girl students have to remain separate, but the girls did not accept it. For two months no one wrote their name in the register made for it.”

The student said that one day the teacher came and asked who was getting the period, then everyone said no and they can get it checked if they want. The girl said, “The girls got themselves investigated. But a day later some girls claimed that they were forced to do so even though it had not happened.”

What does the college administration say?

The college administration has talked about the investigation but he believes that the mistake is only for the students because they broke the rules. Darshana Dholakia, VC of Kutch University, said, “There is a rule of the hostel that during menstruation, women cannot eat with other people in the mess because this college is affiliated with Swaminarayan sect.

He said that after getting the complaint, he wanted to know from the girls. He said, “The girls came and checked themselves, the staff checked but they were not touched and the girls were having periods. They even apologized. So the mistake is theirs, they lied.”

The VC also assured strict action against those found guilty in this regard. Trusty Pravin Pindoria of Sri Swaminarayan Kanya Vidyamandir Sanstha has also given assurance of action.

He said, “This is a very old institution. Never has such an incident happened in all these years. When I came to know that there is some conflict between the teachers and the students, I intervened and tried to resolve it. We will investigate and anyone who is guilty will not be spared.
